UNIVERSITY SURGEONS, leaders in advanced surgical care, continue to offer
the most up-to-date procedures in many areas of general surgery. We have recently
made the following procedures available:
Mammotome biopsy, a minimally invasive procedure for the excision
of breast lesions that is done in the doctor’s office. This procedure is
being offered by Dr. Darius Francescatti.
Botox injections new being used as a treatment
for anal fissures. This is a new, minimally invasive procedure, that can avoid
the need for surgical excision and can be done in an outpatient setting.
Sacral nerve stimulation “Interstim” is now used
as a new treatment for fecal incontinence. Until recently there were few options
available for the treatment of incontinence. Doctors here at UNIVERSITY SURGEONS
specialize in this treatment, and offer both surgical and non-surgical options,
such as sacral nerve stimulation. These procedures are being offered by Dr.
Brand and Dr. Saclarides.
“Oasis” for repair of non-healing wounds
is now available. “Oasis” is a thin biological material that is laid
over a non-healing wound, such as an ulcer, and bonds to the ulcer, promoting
healing and reducing the need for debriding or removing nonviable tissue. This
avoids multiple trips to the operating room and speeds the healing process.
Vein therapy is now being offered by two of our surgeons, Dr.
Bines and Dr. Francescatti. A broad
range of conditions are diagnosed and treated, ranging from spider veins to severe
varicosities.
