Dr.
Steven Bines completed a two year fellowship
in surgical oncology at the MD Anderson
Hospital and Tumor Institute before
returning to join the surgical staff
at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical
Center. He is also on the surgical staff
of Oak Park Hospital and Illinois Masonic
Hospital, both of which are affiliates
of Rush. As a Senior Attending Surgeon
at Rush-Presbyterian St. Lukes and an
assistant professor at Rush Medical
College. He is the Director of Surgical
Research in The Department of Surgery
at Rush and co-director of the Pigmented
Lesion Center at the Rush Cancer Institute.
He is also a member of the Comprehensive
Breast Center at the Rush Cancer Institute.
He
is a member of numerous surgical societies,
has published numerous articles and
book chapters and lectures extensively
on the Surgical Treatment of Melanoma
and Breast Cancer and the use of Sentinel
Lymph Node Biopsy. His current research
interests include the early detection
of melanomas using computer assisted
analysis of pigmented lesion images.
This research is funded by the National
Science Foundation.
His practice is focused on surgical
oncology , especially the treatment
of melanoma, breast cancer and sarcoma.
