Marc
I. Brand, M.D. received his Bachelor’s
Degree in Biomedical Engineering at
the University of Illinois at Chicago
in 1986. He graduated from Rush Medical
College in 1990. Dr. Brand completed
8 years of surgical training at the
Cleveland Clinic, including a 5-year
residency in General Surgery, a 2-year
fellowship in Surgical Research and
a 1-year fellowship in Colorectal Surgery.
He has multiple publications and has
presented at several national meetings.
His areas of clinical expertise include
ulcerative colitis (pelvic pouch surgery),
Crohn's disease (strictureplasty and
bowel conservation), colonoscopy, and
hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes
(Familial Polyposis and Lynch Syndromes).
Dr. Brand is a member of the Collaborative
Group of the Americas on Hereditary
Colon Cancer and is the Director of
the Rush Registry for Hereditary Colorectal
Cancer. The registry is an organization
which coordinates and provides medical
care for patients and families with
hereditary colorectal cancer, and also
provides information regarding these
syndromes to both patients and their
physicians.
