Minimally Invasive Surgery:

New techniques in recent years now avoid larger incisions. This is a big step forward for patients, because they are in the hospital shorter times, there is a significant reduction in pain, and they are able to return to normal activities sooner. Some of these procedures are now done without an overnight stay in the hospital, and even in some cases in the office.

University Surgeons offers our patients the latest in many minimally invasive techniques, not only abdominal surgery but also breast, rectum and hernia procedures. Our doctors are among the first to offer these procedures, and are responsible for teaching these procedures in workshops throughout the country as well as at surgical society seminars.

Below is a sampling of some of the minimally invasive surgical techniques offered by University Surgeons:

Breast procedures:
Ductal lavage
Ductoscopy
Cryosurgery of benign breast lesions
Breast biopsies in the office

Colon and Rectal:
Laparoscopic assisted colon surgeries
Transperineal endoscopic microsurgery of rectal tumors

Abdominal procedures:
Radiofrequency ablation of liver tumors
Laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery
Laparoscopic gallbladder removal

Hernias
