Theodore
J. Saclarides, M.D. is a Professor of
Surgery and Head of the Section of Colon
and Rectal Surgery. He is board certified
in both General Surgery and Colon and
Rectal Surgery. He has performed extensive
research and published articles on colorectal
cancer, inflammatory bowel disease,
and pelvic floor disorders.
He has served on the Executive Council
of the American Society of Colon and
Rectal Surgeons and on the Board of
Trustees for its Research Foundation.
Dr. Saclarides is a member of the
National Ultrasound Faculty for the
American College of Surgeons for teaching
other surgeons and is a regional examiner
for the American Board of Colon and
Rectal Surgeons. He has served as President
of the Chicago Society of Colon and
Rectal Surgeons.
In 1999 he was recognized as a leading
cancer doctor by Good Housekeeping Magazine
and was designated a “Top Doctor”
by Castle Connolly’s Guide to
Regional Doctors. He was appointed to
the Editorial Board for the Journal
of Surgical Oncology and Diseases of
the Colon and Rectum, and has lectured
in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Scandinavia.
Dr. Saclarides is skilled in pelvic
floor ultrasonography, sphincter reconstruction
for incontinence, transanal excision
of rectal tumors, and interstitial destruction
of primary and metastatic liver tumors.
He is also an experienced laparoscopic
surgeon.
He, his wife and 5 children live in
the Northern suburbs of Chicago and
are active in their community and church.
